Radiation Oncology Doctor

Nature of the work

Radiation oncology involves the therapeutic applications of radiant energy and its modifiers as well as the study and management of disease, especially malignant tumors.1

Radiation oncologists can receive training in the following subspecialty:

hospice and palliative medicine, which involves preventing and relieving the suffering experienced by patients with life-limiting illnesses.

Training/residency information

The residency training program for radiation oncology is five years.
